Monoethylene Glycol (MEG)

MonoEthylene Glycol is an organic compound with the formula C2H6O2. This material is obtained from the reaction of ethylene oxide and water. In this process, ethylene is changed into ethylene oxide in this process, which is followed by a reaction with water. It is a translucent, odorless liquid that is clear and can be combined in any ratio with water.

It serves as an efficient component in coolants, antifreeze, and other products in addition to being the main raw material for the production of polyester fibers. This material has low freezing point, low toxicity, and high solubility in organic solvents and water. Its flammability, corrosiveness, and environmental effect are some of its disadvantages.

Exporting MEG to various countries with the best price has been one of the achievements of Petro Nour Mehr Company in recent years.

You can inquire about the price of MEG from the commercial department of Petro Nour Mehr Company.

Shazand Arak Petrochemical Company, Marun Petrochemical Company, Marvarid Petrochemical Company, and other domestic factories are producers of MonoEthylene Glycol in Iran.

  • Polyester:

MonoEthylene Glycol reacts with dibasic acids and their esters, such as terephthalic, oxalic, succinic, glutamic, and adipic acids, to produce polyester fibers, threads, films, and resins. These commercially available polyterephthalate fibers, which are generated from this material, are widely used in the textile industry and go by several names, including Tergal, Terilene, Dacron, and Trevira.

Polyester films are used for the production of photographic films, magnetic tapes, and packaging materials because of their great mechanical strength, superior dielectric qualities, and low hygroscopicity. Moreover, It is essential for the manufacture of PET, or polyethylene terephthalate, which is widely used in food and fizzy beverage packaging.

  • Resins:

Rosin esters, polyurethane resins, unsaturated polyester resins, and alkyd resins are all made from this material. It also serves as an anti-freezing and coalescence agent in emulsified resins. Rubber with high chemical and abrasion resistance can be synthesized when it is mixed with adipic acid and other glycols. Alkyd resins are widely used in the paint and varnish industries. They are produced from oleic acid and MEG.

  • Wetting and plasticizing agents:

Cellophane, glues, textiles, printing ink, leather, cosmetics, paper, and pharmaceutical items are just a few of the industries that use this material as a wetting and plasticizing agent.

  • Coolant additives:

To raise the boiling point and reduce the freezing point of a solution, it is used in internal combustion engine coolant systems and industrial refrigeration circuits. This Material needs to have an anticorrosive ingredient in order to stop water corrosion. In addition, antifreeze compositions containing up to 10% of DIETHYLENEGLYCOL can also contain MEG. For a given industrial refrigeration application, these components have different quantitative ratios.

  • Other uses:

Additional applications for Ethyleneglycols include the preparation of printing ink, the treatment of gases, the production of cutting oils, the creation of fire-resistant hydraulic fluids, the production of surface polishers, the formulation of agrochemicals, the extraction of solvents, the production of pigmented pastes and wall putty, and the synthesis of explosives.

Appropriate properties and reasonable price of MonoEthylene Glycol are guaranteed at Petro Nour Mehr Company.

When purchasing this material, attention should be paid to the following points:

  1. It must be a clear and colorless liquid.
  2. The purity of the substance must be above 99%.
  3. The amount of water present in this substance should be less than 0.1%.
  4. The smaller the difference between IBP and DP, the better the properties of the liquid.

5. The color of the substance according to the Pt-Co test must be below 5.

It should be kept under Nitrogen blanket and ambient temperature.

MEG packaging for export can be in Bulk, IBC, Plastic Drummed.
